Neighborhood Transformation

Breakthrough seeks to end cycles of poverty in East Garfield Park by providing a network of support to local residents.

Breakthrough Fresh Market

The Breakthrough Fresh Market provides groceries and various supplies to more than 1,000 families in Breakthrough's target zone.

At the Fresh Market, guests are given a set amount of points based on the size of their families. They then receive a personal shopper to walk the aisles of the Fresh Market with them, helping them select the ingredients their families will need and enjoy.

Fresh Market guests also have access to information on financial literacy, housing/tenant resources, GED classes, computer training, Employment Readiness classes, health workshops and more.

The Fresh Market also serves seniors and physically disabled community residents through a home-delivery program.

The Fresh Market is staffed by local volunteers, many of whom were originally Fresh Market shoppers.

We welcome food and supply donations.
