2013 Annual Benefit details announced

On Friday, Oct. 18, Breakthrough is inviting those known and unknown to its mission to experience East Garfield Park in a fresh, dynamic way.

This year’s annual benefit, to be held in a new location, will feature a night of storytelling that allows the audience to experience moments in the lives of Breakthrough’s youth, families and homeless adults.

Breakthrough is committed to creating lasting change in its community by partnering with those affected by poverty. On Oct. 18, you’ll have the opportunity to be a part of that process: to rise and create change.

This year’s benefit location is the Marriott Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, 1551 N. Thoreau Drive, Schaumburg.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to a gallery space spearheaded by Breakthrough’s Creative Arts and Science coordinator, Amy Coles. At 7 p.m., attendees will enter the ballroom, where they’ll be served dinner and experience the evening’s artistic production: featuring speakers, live performances and video depictions of moments in the lives of our community. Violinist Daniel Davis will also perform. Davis can be found on YouTube at Daniel Davis on YouTube.

Breakthrough advocates Sandy and Greg Welch will co-chair the evening with Breakthrough’s founder and executive director, Arloa Sutter. At the close of the program, Arloa will share what’s happening at Breakthrough from a point of view only she possesses: a woman who lives in the community and has been in the trenches since Day 1.

The evening will close with a performance by the Breakthrough Youth Choir. To register for the benefit, visit www.breakthrough.org/benefit. To host a table of 10, contact Janet Milkovich at (773) 346-1773.
